Earth Day, Waste, and Why We’re Donating 5%
Share
This April, to mark Earth Day and my personal (and slightly overzealous) love for waste management, L O V E J O Y is donating 5% of all sales this month to this extraordinary charity I discovered just a few months ago.
After 10 years of R&D, Yayasan Green Books Indonesia launched the most impactful and comprehensive waste management program for elementary schools in Indonesia, reducing single-use plastic consumption by 81.34% and cutting residual waste sent to landfills by 86.66%
To foster lasting changes in schoolchildren’s waste management habits, the program includes:
• Establishing single-use plastic-free canteens
• Implementing a waste separation bin system
• Connecting schools with waste banks for recycling
• Setting up composting facilities to manage organic waste effectively
This isn’t just about bins and compost. It’s about long-term habit change — teaching kids and teachers how to care for the planet through daily action.

Our goal
We’re hoping to raise enough by the end of April to sponsor an entire school through this program. So far, the first 10 days of April have been our best ever — and we haven’t even shared this news until now.
Thanks for being part of this.
